"The KindActs initiative really captures the imagination of both adults and young people because schools can choose their project, it involves everyone and is action oriented... School Districts can spend thousands of dollars on anti-violence or anti-bullying programs and provide days of in-service to teachers at considerable cost. However, the Coin-spiracy teaches social responsibility through developing empathic behavior and addresses all the issues related to bullying, at a minimum cost. The benefits far outweigh the costs of joining ... I think it is a fantastic program." - Principal Donna Miller, WestShore Centre for Learning and Training, Victoria

Top 10 Reasons
for Joining the Coin-spiracy

  • It's fun, exciting and creative - it captures the energy, enthusiasm and imaginations of participants of all ages.
  • Students are encouraged to be creative, work cooperatively, develop leadership skills and become engaged in their own learning.
  • The Coin-spiracy is a proactive program that provides positive options to negative behaviours, such as bullying, and addresses social responsibility issues in a way that youth find easy to understand.
  • It is simple and tangible. Students can hold the coin, commit 3 kind acts, pass on the coin, track its travels and witness the multiplier effect of their kind action.
  • The Coin-spiracy creates lasting positive effects on both the recipients of kind acts and on the group performing them.
  • It raises self-esteem. Youth experience first hand how individual action can make a profound difference.
  • The Coin-spiracy engages everyone and creates community. Schools and groups become more cohesive as they work towards a common goal and youth feel part of a larger global community of "agents for change."
  • It supports students in meeting personal planning learning outcomes. Students develop skills in planning, decision-making, implementation as well as a sense of personal worth and potential as they track the results of their kind acts plan.
  • The Coin-spiracy is flexible and provides an umbrella for a variety of school and youth group initiatives.
  • It connects to curriculum. Students can use math skills to count pennies collected, use language skills to write stories and use mapping skills to track the coin's travels around the globe.

Inspirational Speakers

While the kit has all the necessary tools to launch a Coin-spiracy, you may choose to enhance your Coin-spiracy experience by hiring an inspirational speaker:

  • Brock Tully is an inspirational speaker and author of a series of Reflections books (over 140,000 copies sold). In 2000, Brock sold his business and cycled 18,000 kilometres around North America to raise awareness for kindness. In addition to being a main cyclist and spokesperson for the Cycling for Kindness project, he is also Producer of the World Kindness Concert. Visit www.brocktully.com for more information. Contact Brock at speaker@brocktully.com for information on presentation topics and formats to suit your budget requirements.
  • Debbie Riopel is a teacher, life coach and personal historian. Debbie is a founding member of the World Kindness Movement. From 1995-2002, she promoted Random Acts of Kindness Week in Alberta. In 2002-03, Debbie filmed and documented kindness globally on a World Kindness Tour. Since 2003, Debbie has been delighted to assist with the Coin-spiracy program in BC. Contact Debbie at debbie@kindacts.net.
