Students and staff at Lemonweir celebrated World Kindness Day and the launch of their UNI Coin by showcasing a kindness float at the Holiday Parade. Their enthusiasm and actions inspired the Mayor to declare a World Kindness Week. The celebrations didn't end there.... Students participated in a special "Light the World with Kindness" ceremony where students sat in a darkened gymnasium and read their stories of kind acts with the help of a flashlight. Once the student had completed reading the kindness story, a flashlight was left burning. Eventually the entire gymnasium became "brightened" with kindness.
To top off the day, the UNI Coin arrived at Lemonweir School by military and police escort. Participating in this special mission were Colonel Dan Nobles, Colonel Gunther Neumann from U.S. Fort McCoy, Chief of the Tomah Police Department, LuAnn Fowler, Natalie Divyak and Principal Patricia Hogan from Lemonweir.
As Colonel Dan Nobles passed on the coin to the school, he also shared the following words of praise and encouragement, "That kindness that you show each other and the power that is in that kindness not only lights up the school and your community but it lights up the world."
Lemonweir is the first school in the States to participate in the Coin-spiracy. What an enthusiastic and inspiring launch!!!
