As a kind act to oneself, students at Roots & Wings Montessori begin their day with a yoga routine. As their kind act to another, several students went to Ottawa and presented the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson with a poem of gratitude and their UNI coin. Their hope is that the coin gets passed on to the Queen and over time finds itself going around the world. The Coin-spiracy Team caught their request on video and will be sending the video to the Governor General.
The poem:
Good day your Excellency, our greetings to you,
In this pouch find a kindness that is special and new.
Our school in B.C. has some goodness to spread
We give it to you, our country's head;
To meet all our people, especially up north,
You and your husband often go forth.
You help our people to understand
That differences enrich our beautiful land.
We think it's great that on Christmas Day
You met with Marines so far away.
Our kindness acknowledges your contributions;
For fear and hatred, kind acts are solutions.
So dear Governor General you're not just a figure -
Uniting our country you work at with vigour.
In passing this coin your Kind Acts will be seen
By another great person, perhaps the Queen.
