There are two ways to join the Coin-spiracy:

Schools & Youth Groups Launching a Coin-spiracy

"I would encourage other students to do this Coin-spiracy because it is so much fun. In the beginning I thought, "This is cool", but I never knew that I could make such a huge difference... and if more people did this it would soon get bigger and it would just be joyful for everybody to be doing kind acts for people." - Student, Auguston Traditional Elementary, Abbotsford

How Do We Join?

Register your school/youth group here to order your Coin-spiracy Kit.

Coin-spiracy in a Kit (NEW as of 2006!)

In order to respond to the rapidly expanding interest in the Coin-spiracy and accommodate various schools/youth groups' budgets, we've developed the Coin-spiracy Kit. This kit provides your school/youth group with all the necessary tools to launch the Coin-spiracy.

What's Included in the Coin-spiracy Kit:
(View Kit here.)
  • a promotional package including an instructional brochure, poster and video
  • UNI Coin with a code specific to your school/youth group
  • "pass-port" - travelling document for your UNI Coin

"The Coin-spiracy Project was an excellent project for our students to participate in this year, and we hope to enroll again next year! Not only did it tie in with our school's social responsibility goals, but it also raised an awareness in the children of how important it is to be kind to ourselves, others, and the environment. All of our students at Jackson have contributed to the "Coin-spiracy" and we are very proud of their efforts!

We Are Ready to Launch:
What Do We Do Now?

Step 1 - Commit 3 Kind Acts

Side one of UNI coin To launch your UNI Coin, your school/youth group commits three kind acts:
  • one for self,
  • one for the environment and
  • one for another.
Get inspired by checking out these Kind Act Tips & Ideas.

Do the three acts need to be performed on the same day?

It's up to you. You can spread the three kind acts over a few hours, days or months.

Who do we involve?

Your school/youth group may choose to engage your entire organization in the planning of the kind acts or elect a team to champion the Coin-spiracy and invite full participation along the way.

Step 2 - Pass on the Coin & Pass-port

Side twi of UNI coin

Once you have committed the third act, it's time to pass the coin and Coin-spiracy opportunity to the recipient of your kind act to another.

Your UNI Coin has its own traveling document called a "pass-port", which gets passed on, along with the coin. In the pass-port there is an area for your school/youth group to stamp or write your name, location and date you joined the Coin-spiracy. There is also information on how the new Coinholder can participate in the Coin-spiracy and so it is important that you keep the coin in its passport when you pass it on.

Once the new Coinholder receives the coin, they can embark on the Coin-spiracy adventure by in turn committing three kind acts and passing on the coin in its pass-port.

Note: As of 2006, the pass-port replaces the pouch and card used in previous launches. If you are still passing on UNI Coins launched prior to 2006, please just continue using the pouch and card. If you no longer have the pouch and card, all the information you need to participate is on this web site.

Can we pass on the coin within our own school/youth group?

Absolutely! You can pass on the coin from person to person, class to class - whatever inspires you. To give you an example, St. Mary's Convent High School in Mumbai, India passed the coin on 140 times within their school and recorded a journal entry for each pass! Read UNI 071's Coin Adventure Journal for details.

Once we have passed on the coin, how do we keep up the excitement?

There are so many ways to build on the Coin-spiracy. It really depends on your interest area. The Coin-spiracy offers a valuable venue for putting into practice lessons learned in the classroom. The coin's travels can be an exercise in:

  • Geography. As the coin travels to different parts of the country or world, students have an opportunity to learn more about these communities
  • Math if the coin changes hands often
  • PR if you would like to explore ways of engaging the community and media
  • Drama, videography, art and creative writing
  • Constructive internet use
  • Character building, social responsibility, violence prevention
  • Relationship-building with the communities or people touched by your kind acts

The possibilities are endless. You may feel perfectly happy just launching the coin or you may choose to build an entire program around it. It is up to you!

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted" - Aesop

Step 3 - Share Your Story

Each UNI Coin has its own on-line Coin Adventure Journal for tracking purposes.

Once you have passed on the coin, enter the details of your kind acts in the Coin Adventure Journal corresponding to your coin's unique code. (Note to Teachers: You may wish to integrate this journal exercise into an existing lesson plan.)

To access this page, just enter the three-digit code into the search below or in the left-hand margin of this web site. Then, click on the word "go!".

Search by UNI number,
city or school name...

Your school/youth group's name will appear on a new page. Click onto your name to be linked to your Coin Adventure Journal.

Note: If you have passed on the coin prior to fully completing all three kind acts (for example, you performed the kind act to another but are still working on the kind act to oneself, please submit a journal entry with the details as known to date. To update your journal, email the new details to info@investinakinderworld.com.

Once you have submitted a journal entry, your story will automatically appear in the Coin Adventure Journal. The journal entry will also be automatically forwarded to the email indicated on your registration form so that you can post it on your school/youth group's own web site or billboard.

Step 4 - Track the Coin

As the coin passes hands and new Coinholders record their kind acts in the Coin Adventure Journal, your school/youth group can follow the amazing adventures of your UNI Coin and experience the multiplier effect of kindness and its endless possibilities...

To read your Coin Adventure Journal, just enter your coin's three-digit UNI code into the search engine located in the left-hand margin of this web site. Your school/youth group's name will appear on a new page. Click onto your name to be linked to the Coin Adventure Journal.

Step 5 - Join the Story Celebration

While kindness stories will be highlighted throughout the Coin-spiracy, a more official story celebration, reserved for schools and youth groups launching the UNI Coins, will be held on:

  • November 13 - World Kindness Day
  • April 22 - Earth Day

Categories include stories that demonstrate:

  • the ripple effect of kindness. Your coin may have changes hands often, traveled great distances or inspired a chain reaction of kindness.
  • going the extra mile in tracking the coin's travels
  • creating a splash - be it in launching the Coin-spiracy, performing a kind act, spreading the word or involving the community
  • engagement in kindness outreach and education.

Your coin's adventure journal entries will automatically be entered in the story celebration; however, we encourage you to send us any story details, pictures, video clips or documentation that would enhance your coin's kindness story.

Winning entries will be awarded a prize. Find out more here.

For inspiration, we invite you to read some of the Coin-spiracy 2003/04 stories and Coin-spiracy 2002/03 stories.
